I first want to really thank the folks who have subscribed/flattrd or donated, I really appreciate your help and am back at the break even point and that’s right where I want/need to be! The server speed seems to be holding steady and all is working ok. I personally have been working on other things and not done any coding, maybe work will let up someday and I can play some more.. but for now how about some graphs! Traffic (about 8k a week): Growth (about 500 a week): So it looks like even with the Google+ launch we are up in signups and visits!

The core team has a new post no on their blog   It’s hard to believe, but we’ve been working on Diaspora for a whole year now. And I am happy to report that we’re still here, and we’re going strong. From those first pizza-fueled nights in the ACM room at NYU, to the Kickstarter going bonkers, to our journey west to San Francisco to work at Pivotal Labs, this past year has been a crazy, unending dream.

Diaspora has a variety of ways for you to make your text less than plain. For those who know what Mark Down is, Diaspora uses a partial subset of that. But it also does things a bit like Twitter does, and a bit like Facebook stole from Twitter. Most of these formatting tricks work in posts or in comments. But some of them only work in posts, not comments. more at  Formatting Text on Diaspora | Different Computers.

Tomorrow morning I will be moving the pod to its new home. My host ClubUptime has discontinued their OpenVZ VPS and only offers Xen VPS now, this is a good thing. Downtime should be very minimal as I have things all set up, however it does have a new IP (50.23.213.171) and updating DNS always has some lag for some folks if your not using GoogleDNS or OpenDNS. I plan to make the move at 8am Saturday morning the 30th of April

April 2011 Pod update Well I have been pretty busy with work and some other projects, but thought I would do a pod update. Diaspora* has been on my backburner a bit, but the Dev’s seem hard at work and I still update the code everyday to the pod. First off I made a plea this last week for donations and got about 10, helps out thank you to those who donated, its never too late! Long term I am still not sure how to keep the site funded. I have been able to get enough random donations to pay all server costs. Flattr seems viable if people start using it,
